Sponsor the Powwow

This celebration holds immense significance for our community as it signifies the drive to reintroduce our culture, ceremonies, history, and traditions to our young ones, adolescents, and their families. Recently, we were contacted by museums in Vancouver and Toronto regarding the identification of sacred pipes belonging to Chief Whitecap, which they are looking to repatriate to their rightful home. This gathering will not only mark the return of the sacred pipes but also serve as a commemoration of a pivotal milestone in our nation's history – our first anniversary as a self-governing nation. On September 1, 2023, Whitecap Dakota Nation was officially recognized as the 1st Self-Governing nation in Saskatchewan.

Our powwow is scheduled to take place on September 13-15 2024, at the Sasktel Centre in Saskatoon SK. It has been almost 30 years since Whitecap hosted a powwow and we anticipate a significant turnout. We are reaching out to local businesses, our partners, and community members for sponsorship to ensure the event's success.
